The Friday Show Presented By Woodbine: Handicapping Strategies From Breeders’ Cup Pre-Entries

The fields for the 2023 Breeders' Cup began to truly take shape on Wednesday with the release of the pre-entries for all 14 races, which means it's time to start handicapping in earnest.

The Breeders' Cup presents some of the most lucrative betting opportunities on the calendar, with large fields full of high-quality runners over the course of two cards. Each race brings its own dynamic to the equation when it comes to both vertical and horizontal wagers, and cracking that code can lead to a memorable day at the betting windows.

On this week's episode of The Friday Show, bloodstock editor Joe Nevills is joined by turf writer and handicapper Andrew Champagne to discuss the Breeders' Cup pre-entries, and some strategies to handicap the fields as they start to come together.

Champagne is based in California, and has spent plenty of time watching and handicapping races at Santa Anita Park, the host site of this year's Breeders' Cup. He'll provide insight on some angles to watch specific to the track, and why he's taking a stand against what will likely be one of the biggest favorites of the weekend.
