Obesity is one of the leading health problems Americans face, but it's not just people battling the bulge.

According to Kentucky Equine Research, between 25% and 50% of horses in developed countries are carrying more weight than is healthy and are considered obese.

Some of the many side effects for horses who are obese include insulin resistance, laminitis, decreased exercise tolerance, increased misbehavior, osteoarthritis, colic, equine metabolic syndrome and more.
