Hawthorne: Mandatory Hi-5 Payout Wednesday; Pick 4 Takeout Reduced Starting Jan. 1 by Edited Press Release|12.29.2015|10:20am With a carryover building over the past month, the Jackpot Hi-5 carryover at Hawthorne Race Course has risen to $294,219. With the end of the meet nearing, a mandatory payout on the Hi-5 will be Wednesday, December 30. The Hi-5 is a $.20 wager that requires the player to select the first five finishers in order in the final race of the day. Takeout on the Hi-5 is 20%. On Wednesday, the entire carryover pool will be added to what is wagered, minus takeout, and will be distributed across all winners that correctly select the order of finish. In addition to the nearly $300,000 carryover, another $300,000-plus is expected to be wagered into the Wednesday pool. Additionally, as the calendar flips to 2016, Hawthorne will be lowering the takeout on the Pick 4 wagers. The $.20 Pick 4 is offered twice daily at Hawthorne, starting with Race 2, and also on the final 4 races daily. To win the pick 4, the player must correctly select the winner of the four consecutive races that make up the wager. Currently the takeout on the Pick 4 is 25%, but beginning January 1 the takeout will be lowered to 15%. The lowered takeout will remain in place for the Suburban Downs at Hawthorne harness meet which begins on Friday, January 8.
