Auction Focus: Hip 194, By Speightstown, From Buckland Sales At Fasig-Tipton Saratoga
Hip 194, a filly by the late Speightstown, highlights the offerings from consignor Buckland Sales during Tuesday's session of the 2024 Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Selected Yearlings Sale.
The chestnut filly is the third foal out of the unraced Giant's Causeway mare Tooken, whose foals include the 2-year-old Frio Town, who sold to Mike Rutherford for $675,000 at last year's Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Sale.
Bred in Kentucky by Calumet Farm, the filly's second dam is the Gone West mare Takesmybreathaway, who is responsible for Grade 1 winner Frost Giant - a full-brother to Tooken - stakes winner Breathless Storm, and Grade 3-placed Heavy Breathing, all of which became sires. Takesmybreathaway is also the dam of Shakeyourbody, whose produce record includes French Group 3 winners Siyoushake and Skyward.
Going further down the filly's page unveils champion Rhythm, Kentucky Derby winner Super Saver, and Grade 1 winners Bluegrass Cat and Girolamo, and notable sire Mutakddim.
Speightstown was one of the Thoroughbred industry's most bankable commercial names prior to his death in December 2023.
