After one of his fillies took center stage earlier in the week, consignor Omar Ramirez witnessed one of his colts take to the track Saturday and showcase the depth of his consignment for 2025 OBS June Two-Year-Olds and Horses of Racing Age Sale.

Having already sent out Hip 229, a dark bay or brown filly by Cloud Computing to tie for the bullet move when she breezed a quarter in :20 4/5 on Wednesday, Ramirez enjoyed another highlight Saturday when Hip 829, a bay colt by Beau Liam, equaled the OBS track record for the distance when he worked in :20 1/5 during the fifth and final under tack session.

The Beau Liam colt becomes the first horse to work in :20 1/5 at OBS since a pair of entrants clocked that time at the 2024 Spring Sale of Two-Year-Olds in Training. One of the :20 1/5 workers in that 2024 April sale was Cash Call, recent winner of the Summertime Oaks (G3).

“I told Jimbo Gladwell (of Top Line Sales) this morning ‘I’ve got a good one coming out’”, Ramirez laughed. “I was expecting :20 and 3, :20 and 4 and if I was really lucky, :20 and 2. But :20 and 1, that’s amazing. He’s just a great colt. I knew the work was going to be good. I knew he was going to be the bullet, whatever the bullet was today.

“One of my riders told me to send this horse a quarter because he keeps going, he’s not going to stop. He’s ready to run.”

Bred by La Ciega LLC, the colt is out of the Lemon Drop Kid mare Sweetnsour Kitty, who is from the female family of graded stakes winner and multiple Grade 1 placed Feverish. He also caps off a banner week for Ramirez who believes his 28-horse strong consignment may be his best yet.

“This colt is just a special horse. He does everything naturally,” said Ramirez, who consigns as Omar Ramirez Bloodstock. “He just goes over there and does his thing. I’ve had a great under tack show overall. All my babies responded well and have come back good and are looking good.”

Though he wasn’t part of the slate of under tack workers, another youngster who had a top outing this week was Hip 158, Khon Han, who won via disqualification first time out after crossing the wire second by a nose in the sixth race at Gulfstream Park on June 13. Consigned by A B Thoroughbreds, the colt is by Rock Your World and is out of the winning, stakes-placed Bellamy Road mare Bella Alicita.
