Blue Horse Charities gives grants to 45 Thoroughbred adoption groups

Blue Horse Charities announced grants in 2011 of $153,300 that were awarded to 45 non-profit organizations that place registered Thoroughbreds into adoptive homes.

Blue Horse Charities was founded in 2001 and is funded by contributions from buyers and sellers at Fasig-Tipton auctions. All contributions are matched equally by Fasig-Tipton. In addition to granting funds, Blue Horse Charities strives to educate owners about the suitable options for Thoroughbreds at the conclusion of their racing careers.

Blue Horse Charities provides grants based exclusively on the number of registered Thoroughbreds placed into adoptive homes by a charity. To date, over $1.6 million has been granted to more than 70 charities.

The next Blue Horse Charities grant application cycle will commence in January 2012.  Organizations that work to rehabilitate, retrain and find homes for off-the-track Thoroughbreds and are 501 (c) (3) charitable organizations may be eligible for a grant.  For more information about Blue Horse Charities please visit www.bluehorsecharities.org.
