Bridgetown wins the 2012 Woodford Stakes at Keeneland

Questroyal North has announced that multiple graded stakes winner Bridgetown will join grade one winners Boys at Tosconova and Courageous Cat for the 2014 breeding season and will hold court at the farm located in Stillwater, NY, near Saratoga Racecourse. The 6-year-old son of Speightstown, North America's leading sire over the past two seasons, will stand for $4,500 introductory fee as property of a syndicate.

Bridgetown was one of the fastest turf horses in the U.S. for five seasons, and was a stakes winner at 2, 3, 4 and 5. He recorded five triple digit Beyer Speed Figures and won seven stakes, two of them graded, and was stakes-placed in another eight, three of them graded. He compiled a record of 9-6-3 in 23 starts, with 20 of those starts coming in stakes, while earning $993,700.

After breaking his maiden by 5 1/4 lengths at Saratoga as a 2-year-old, Bridgetown won the one-mile Summer Stakes-G3 at Woodbine by 1 1/2 lengths, then finished a strong second after setting the pace in the one-mile Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf-G2 at Santa Anita.

Bridgetown also won the Woodford Stakes-G3 at Keeneland, the Troy Stakes at Saratoga twice, the Latham Stakes at Saratoga, the Gilded Time Stakes at Monmouth Park and the Turf Dash Stakes at Tampa Bay Downs where the Todd Pletcher-trained colt posted eye-opening fractions of :20.4 :43.1 in a winning time of :55.1. In the Gilded Time, which he won by 2 1/2 lengths, he set a course record of 1:00.67 for 'about' 5 1/2 furlongs on the turf, a record which still stands. He won twice with clockings which were less than three-tenths off the course record.

On four occasions, Bridgetown captured back-to-back hard-earned races, belying the infamous "bounce" theory espoused by so many expert handicappers.

Speightstown, Bridgetown's sire, is the sire of 41 stakes winners. His progeny have earned more than $20 million from Jan. 1, 2012 to date, the most of any stallion in North America in that 22-month span. Bridgetown's dam, stakes-placed Ellesmere, by Tabasco Cat, has produced four other winners, including two multiple stakes winners, Carnacks Choice ($286,957) and Clement Rock ($286,446 to 2013). His second dam, by Alydar is a full sister to Kentucky Derby winner Strike the Gold ($3,457,026).
