Genetic sleuths unravel historic Epsom Derby mystery

As Camelot takes on eight other colts in his attempt to etch his name in Epsom Derby history on Saturday, genetic researchers have unraveled a 132-year-old mystery that has surrounded the identity of the winner of the 1880 classic.

With the help of DNA testing, it has been discovered that the official winner, Bend Or, was really a colt named Tadcaster. The two colts, who were similarly marked, were confused by stablehands as yearlings...and no one ever came forward to admit the mix-up.
