Zenyatta Makes Special Birthday Appearance On Lane’s End Virtual Tour by Paulick Report Staff|04.02.202004.02.2020|1:29pm6:36pm Zenyatta Lots of Kentucky breeding farms are offering virtual tours of the world behind their iron gates as racing fans are stuck inside due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but one tour featured a very special guest on Wednesday. Retired Hall of Famer and fan favorite Zenyatta made a special birthday appearance on the Lane's End virtual tour, which has been viewed 67,000 times as of midday Thursday. While the official birthday for Thoroughbreds is Jan. 1, Zenyatta observed the 16th anniversary of her foaling on April 1. The popular mare is kept along with other broodmares on a different part of Lane's End's large property from the stallion complex, and therefore isn't part of the normal tours offered through Horse Country. Lane's End personnel say Zenyatta is the leader of her broodmare band and remains very friendly and people-oriented. She still does her trademark “strut” when she is excited about something, like going outside to her paddock. She is due to foal in mid-May and is carrying a filly by Candy Ride.
