Fasig-Tipton Kentucky catalogues 338 for July yearling sale, up 12% from 2011

Fasig-Tipton has catalogued 338 yearlings for the 2012 July Sale of selected yearlings at its Newtown Paddocks headquarters in Lexington on Tuesday, July 10.  The number of yearlings to be offered is an increase of almost 12% over its counterpart last year.

“Despite a smaller foal crop in 2011, we have been able to grow our yearling numbers meaningfully for this year,” said Fasig-Tipton president Boyd Browning. “In addition to more positive signs for the economy in general and for the Thoroughbred industry specifically, current graduates of The July Sale have been performing particularly well at the racetrack and in selected two-year-olds in training sales as pinhooks.

“A recent independent industry study shows this as the #1 sale for percentage of race-winning graduates and it is second by percentage only to our Saratoga sale as the leading source for grade 1 winners and stakes-winners.”

The front cover of this year’s catalogue features seven grade 1 winners from 2011 and 2012. They are part of a group of 23 graded and group stakes-winners to date from these two years.  Catalogues will be available from all Fasig-Tipton offices by June 11 and are now on-line at the company’s website.
