Hellmers Holds Top Two Placings After Day One Of Del Mar Handicapping Challenge
Christian Hellmers of Rancho Santa Fe, CA, is first and second place with both entries after day one of the Del Mar Handicapping Challenge. Players started the day with a $3,000 live money bankroll in the two-day Challenge. Hellmers scored in the Bob Hope Stakes, race five, hitting a $100 trifecta paying $20,000+ on both entries.
More than $100,000 in prizes is at stake. First Place takes home $30,000 including a full $10,000 entry in the 2018 Breeders’ Cup Betting Challenge (BCBC). The top three finishers after Sunday’s races receive BCBC entries and places 4 through 6 receive entries in the $2.5 million National Horseplayers Championship in February. The winner will be eligible for a $1 million bonus if they win the 2018 Breeders’ Cup Betting Challenge at Churchill Downs.
