Tropical Storm Debby, slowly moving up the East Coast while leaving large amounts of rain, tornados and flooding in its wake, has led officials at Charles Town racetrack in West Virginia to cancel Thursday night's program.

In addition, officials at Laurel Park and Delaware Park have cancelled cards for Friday as the storm moves Northeast.

These cancellations come after Colonial Downs in neighboring Virginia cancelled Thursday, Friday and Saturday's programs and move the track's Festival of Racing, highlighted by the Grade 1 duo of the Arlington Million and Beverly D. Stakes from Saturday to Sunday.

The slow-moving storm made landfall early Thursday and is expected to pick up speed as it moves northeast through Maryland and Pennsylvania on Friday and into New York and New England Friday night and early Saturday morning. That could affect racing in several states on Friday, including Saratoga in upstate New York, which has made contingency plans to move some of Saturday's graded stakes on turf to Sunday.

Once the storm passes through, the weekend forecast for Saratoga Springs, N.Y., is for sunny weather with temperatures in the upper 70s.
