Ireland: Wife Of Prominent National Hunt Trainer Dies In Riding Accident
The National Hunt community in Ireland is mourning the loss of Maria O'Grady, wife of Edward O'Grady, one of the country's top trainers on the National Hunt circuit.
The Independent reports that Ms. O'Grady was killed instantly when she was thrown from her horse while jumping a fence. O'Grady, who was a member of the Tipperary Hunt Branch of the Irish Pony Club, was taking part in a local hunt on Saturday, Nov. 25, near Grantstown.
In a statement released over the weekend by Ms. O'Grady's stepson Jonathan, said, "On behalf of Edward and family it is with shock and profound sorrow that I confirm Maria O'Grady died suddenly following a tragic fall on the hunting field. Beloved wife, revered mother and ardent friend, she will be inordinately missed."
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Nov. 28.
