Asmussen’s Youngest Son To Make Riding Debut Wednesday At Churchill Downs

Churchill Downs’ famed Twin Spires

Erik Asmussen, the youngest son of Hall of Fame trainer Steve Asmussen, will make his riding debut Wednesday at Churchill Downs aboard Risk Profile, also owned by his father.

The younger Asmussen has been regularly working horses for his father and will ride alongside his older brother, Keith. Erik Asmussen was also named on two horses next Sunday for his father–in the sixth and 10th races.

Risk Profile, a 6-year-old Into Mischief gelding, is entered in race 5 Wednesday, a six-furlong test for $20,000 claimers, 3-year-olds and older, and is pegged at 7-2 on the morning line. The bay has a 4-4-10 record from 30 career starts. He has placed in all three starts this year, winning once–a six-furlong event for $10,000 claimers Aug. 4 at Saratoga. Most recently, he was seventh in a seven-furlong starter allowance Oct. 11 at Keeneland.
