Ryan Champion, brother of racetrack veterinarian Emily Champion, spoke to media last week following his indictment for the murders of his parents, Lindsey and Joy Champion, Emily Champion, and Vito Riservato, the 22-year-old man police originally said was the suspect in the quadruple homicide.

"I know what happened," he said. "I know who was where, I know who did what. I know."

A roommate of Riservato told a local television station that someone had offered Riservato a large sum of money to kill people for him. The roommate also said Riservato's personality changed in the days leading up to the murders.

Champion has maintained that he was home when Riservato shot and killed his family and was "able to turn the tables" on Riservato, shooting and killing him. Riservato was shot in the face.

Speaking from the Christian County Jail, Champion told News Edge WKDZ Radio's Travis Faulkner that he believes the fact that the indictment was amended shows the prosecution's case is lacking. The indictment was edited from four counts of capital murder to three counts of complicity to commit murder and one count of murder.

"Their evidence is not as strong as they led everyone to believe," said Champion, who declined to discuss specifics of the events of Oct. 26. "That's a real good note for all of my friends, all of my supporters, everyone out there who's believed in me through thick and thin.

"This is a good time to celebrate."

Champion said he has not yet been allowed to grieve for his family properly, and is looking forward to the day he can move on to a normal life.

Emily Champion has worked for Baronne Veterinary Clinic in 2009 and was based at Delta Downs in Vinton, La. She had recently accepted a new job that was set to start in November and was staying with her parents when the murders took place.
