Jockey Christian Pilares Moyohuilca spent a night in jail last week after he was accused of assaulting an unnamed fellow rider at Mahoning Valley Racecourse in Austintown, Ohio last week. Security footage, police toldĀ wfmj.com, shows 39-year-old Pilares coming up behind the alleged victim, punching him, and tackling him in the stable area. Witnesses told police Pilares kicked the other rider in the head when they tried to separate the two. When police arrived, the alleged victim was being loaded into an ambulance. After spending the night in jail, Pilares was arraigned Wednesday on one count of misdemeanor assault; he has not ridden at any track since Tuesday. Pilares is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 11. Pilares has won a total of 1,732 races in his career, which stretches back to 2005.
