Report: Recovery Slow For St. Julien; Jockey May Soon Be Discharged From Mercy Hospital

Marlon St. Julien

Jockey Marlon St. Julien, who was injured in an accident May 19 at Prairie Meadows, has a long road to recovery. The Daily Racing Form reported Wednesday the veteran rider could soon be discharged from Mercy Hospital to a physical rehabilitation clinic.

Although St. Julien regained feeling in his legs and shoulders, writer Marcus Hersh notes St. Julien has been struggling to move his lower arms.

A bout of pneumonia briefly set back St. Julien's recovery and required the insertion of a tracheostomy tube.
