Twice Second, Frankie Dettori In Search Of Melbourne Cup Glory
The 30-year career of internationally-renowned jockey Frankie Dettori has allowed him to compile an impressive resume with very few glaring holes in it. According to sportinglife.com, one of the holes Dettori is keen to fill in is the "Race That Stops A Nation," Australia's Melbourne Cup. The Italian native has finished second in the event twice, with Central Park in 1999 and in 2015 aboard Max Dynamite.
"As for Melbourne, it's amazing I have never got to win it yet," said Dettori. "I've been second twice, but that's another big race you can watch on Sky Sports Racing and hopefully one day I will get to win it."
Dettori recorded a pair of successes at this year's Breeders' Cup at Churchill Downs, aboard Enable in the Longines Turf and aboard Expert Eye in the Mile. His partnership with Enable also saw him win the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe, making the superstar mare the first in history to win the Arc and the Turf in the same season.
