Rapid Redux makes it 17 in a row
The 5-year-old gelding is now two wins away from equaling the record of Zenyatta and Pepper’s Pride, after cruising to his 17th consecutive win on Friday night at Charles Town under J.D. Acosta.
“The race played out like we thought it would,” trainer David Wells said. “He was getting a little tired at the end. J.D. did a great job. He had the lead, but could feel the horse coming behind him and he kept on riding.”
Rapid Redux began his winning streak last December at Penn National and has since raced at seven different racetracks, with seven different riders, at distances from 5 furlongs to a mile and one-eighth.
