Charles Town Gets Approval For 162 Live Racing Dates
After releasing its calendar for the first four months of 2018 in November, Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races has now set its full live racing schedule for the current year following approval by the West Virginia Racing Commission at its meeting this morning.
The calendar contains 162 live racing days to be conducted on Wednesday through Saturday between Jan. 10 and April 21 and then Thursday to Saturday from May 3 through Dec. 22. Post time for the first race on Charles Town’s standard cards will be 7:00 p.m. The two exceptions will be a 12:30 p.m. start time for Charles Town’s April 21 Charles Town Classic program and 5:00 p.m. on Race for the Ribbon day on Sept. 22.
Charles Town’s 2018 stakes schedule, which was made official earlier in February, is again to be headlined by the track’s marquee race and biggest day of its meet – the $1,200,000 Charles Town Classic (Grade 2) – on the aforementioned April 21 date. The Classic is one of 20 stakes currently scheduled at Charles Town for the coming year, not including the finalized lineup for West Virginia Breeders’ Classics XXXII which is slated for release in the coming months.
