Ellis Park requests 2012 race dates
Ellis Park has asked the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission to approve 2012 race dates similar to those run in 2011, when the facility ran 31 days beginning on the July 4 weekend and ending on Labor Day. For the third year, it stuck to a Friday through Sunday schedule, according to the Courier Press.
Track owner Ron Geary, who expects to get a decision from the racing commission by the middle of October, has said if Ellis installs Instant Racing machines the simulcasting business may stay open year round.
