Hollendorfer ‘Being Forced To Run At Oaklawn’ Over The Winter by Paulick Report Staff|12.02.201912.02.2019|1:09pm5:20pm Hall of Fame trainer Jerry Hollendorfer Embattled California-based trainer Jerry Hollendorfer plans to move his stable to Oaklawn Park in Arkansas next month, the Daily Racing Form reported Monday. Hollendorfer was banned from Santa Anita in June after the deaths of four of his horses during a rash of fatalities at the Arcadia, Calif., venue. Courts later ruled that the Stronach Group, owner of Santa Anita and Golden Gate Fields in Northern California, did not have to allow Hollendorfer back at those tracks. Hollendorfer had a stable at Del Mar's just-ended fall meet and another one at Los Alamitos, which opens a short meet later this week. “I'm being forced to run at Oaklawn because I'm not up in California,” he told DRF. “I'd like to be able to run in California. “We're taking everything (to Oaklawn).” Hollendorfer is among several California-based trainers sending horses to Oaklawn Park, and some jockeys usually in Southern California over the winter are planning to ride there.
