Don't Tell Sophia Catches Wine Princess in Chilukki
Don't Tell Sophia put in a last-to-first effort under Joe Rocco, Jr. to defeat Wine Princess in the Grade 2 Chilukki Stakes late in the Churchill Downs stretch.
The Philip Sims trainee picked up her first graded stakes victory with the run, after having finished second in the Grade 3 Azeri Stakes in March (which interestingly, was named for the dam of rival Wine Princess). In her last race, Don't Tell Sophia was second in the Mari Hulman George Stakes at Indiana Downs in mid-October for Sims and Jerry Namy.
Wine Princess was putting in what could be her last career start--she was purchased privately by Hill 'n' Dale earlier this fall and will be headed to the breeding shed next year.
Don't Tell Sophia was bred in Kentucky by Stonerside Stable and is the daughter of Congaree and Valid Expectations mare Lost Expectations.
