Honor Code Back to Winning Ways With Aqueduct Victory

Honor Code wins his comeback race at Aqueduct on Nov. 22.

Honor Code wins his comeback race at Aqueduct on Nov. 22.

Honor Code, winner of last year's Grade 2 Remsen Stakes and an early favorite on the Triple Crown trail before being sidelined for the majority of 2014, returned to the racetrack with a fast-closing score in Aqueduct's sixth race on Saturday.

The graded stakes winner, trained by Shug McGaughey, was making his first start since a second-place performance behind Social Inclusion at Gulfstream Park on March 12. A suspensory injury knocked Honor Code out of Kentucky Derby consideration; he returned to the worktab in late September.

Honor Code went off favored in the field of nine, sat well off the pace, and closed under mild urging from Javier Castellano to get up in the shadow of the wire. Maleeh was second, and Monster Mash was third. The winner clocked six and a half furlongs in 1:17.33.

Owned by Lane's End Racing and Dell Ridge Farm LLC, Honor Code was bred in Kentucky by Dell Ridge. He is by A.P. Indy out of Serena's Cat, a daughter of Storm Cat; his third dam is Hall of Fame mare Serena's Song.
