Palace Malice To Race in 2015
Palace Malice will be sent to Aiken, S.C., and will race in 2015
Winner of the Grade 1 Metropolitan Mile, and three other graded stakes in 2014, classic winner Palace Malice is ready to go back in training immediately, after an extensive veterinary examination declared him to be sound and fully recovered from the bone bruise suffered in his unplaced Grade 1 Whitney Stakes, co-owners Dogwood Stable and Three Chimneys Farm have announced.
“The x-rays and ultrasounds taken in Kentucky on Thursday morning are as good as we hoped they would be, and Dr. Larry Bramlage and Dr. Robert Copelan pronounced him completely sound” said Cot Campbell, Dogwood president. “Therefore, he shipped Friday morning from Three Chimneys to Aiken for 60-90 days of pre-training and then we will send him down to Todd Pletcher in Florida. His 2015 schedule will be formulated by Three Chimneys, Dogwood and Todd, and we will announce that at a later date,” Campbell said.
Palace Malice is a four-year-old and the leading earner of 2-time Horse of the Year Curlin out of Palace Rumor, with career earnings of $2,676,235, including the rare combination of wins in the Grade 1 Belmont Stakes and the Grade 1 Metropolitan Mile, in which he defeated Goldencents, 2-time Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Mile winner. In three years, Palace Malice has started 17 times, with his seven wins also including a trio of Grade 2’s – Jim Dandy Stakes, Gulfstream Park Handicap and the New Orleans Handicap; and the Grade 3 Westchester Stakes. Palace Malice owns the highest Beyer of 2014 up to one mile.

Three Chimneys bought a half interest in Palace Malice from Dogwood in September. Upon his retirement from racing, Three Chimneys will acquire full ownership of Palace Malice. Next year, he will race in the name of Three Chimneys Farm/Dogwood Stable.
