Riding the River wins the King Edward Stakes

Riding The River outdueled Big Band Sound to win the $252,784 King Edward Stakes (Can-IIT) by a neck at Woodbine June 24.

Hollinger was just another head back in third in a blanket finish. Final time for the eight-furlong turf contest was 1:32.89.

Settled at the rear of the six horse field by jockey Todd Kabel, Riding The River (Wiseman's Ferry-Glow Ruby Go, by Rubiano), was content to track the early leader, Stormy Lord.

Fanned six-wide into the stretch, Riding The River prevailed in a driving finish over Big Band Sound, who flown up along the inside rail. In between those two was Hollinger, who could not hold off the other two and had to settle for third.
