Park Equine Hospital announced the news on Facebook Thursday afternoon, stating that the 6-year-old son of Union Rags was getting checked out at the facility before his retirement.
The one-eyed horse's most notable finish was a third in the Belmont Stakes, but he also ran second in the Louisiana Derby and third in the Alydar Stakes. Over the course of his career under trainers Todd Pletcher and Jack Sisterson, Patch earned $532,450 in 14 starts.
